Miss Rayley Sue Patterson ๐Ÿ˜

We’ve made it to 15 weeks and we know that Baby Patterson is a baby girl! Her name is Rayley Sue Patterson and we can’t wait to meet her. ๐Ÿ’“ Mommy is having headaches pretty frequently but now has a very prominent “bump”. I have been feeling great as far as energy and nausea, none of those things just those pesky headaches that a little coffee helps ๐Ÿ˜Š I can’t complain! Baby girl is the size of an orange now and she is steady growing. The doctor said she and Mommy are having a wonderful pregnancy thus far and we pray it continues to stay that way! We had an awesome gender reveal party this weekend with over 40 family and friends. She is already very popular! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐ŸŽ€ ย Below is her 14 week ultrasound and the voting board showing that the majority of our friends and family thought she was going to be a he! She fooled them ๐Ÿ˜Š

Keep healthy Baby and Mama in your prayers! God bless!

Our First Pregnancy – 11 & 12 weeks!

Weeks 11 and 12 have been great so far! I’ve felt great and I’ve been working my way back into the gym ๐Ÿ™‚

I had my 12 week appointment and the doctor gave us the great news that the growth and heartrate were exactly what he was looking for at a 12 week appointment. Baby’s heartrate is staying between 165-170 so everyone is predicting a little girl! (Of course, we know that’s not always an indicator but it’s a fun way to guess!) Daddy and Mommy are already getting ready to spoil either one ๐Ÿ™‚

Our gender reveal party is also planned for October 18th since we get to find out what we are having at 14 weeks! Our doctor is super cool ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can’t wait to update on the gender, a new ultrasound picture and maybe even a bump picture, as well!

Our First Pregnancy – Weeks 9 & 10!

These past two weeks have been quite pleasant, luckily. I haven’t had very much nausea or any horrible symptoms. I have actually been able to start going to the gym and doing light cardio with some light lifting without getting light-headed or nauseous and I’ve mixed in more daring foods to my diet, such as spicy foods, etc. Heartburn hasn’t come back which is also amazing!!

Our little one is definitely growing by the day and we can’t wait to find out what he or she in just a few weeks at 14 weeks!ย Hopefully more positive updates to come ๐Ÿ™‚

Our First Pregnancy – Weeks 7 & 8!

After week 6, I started feeling a little more normal day by day. I still had to be careful and eat saltines crackers as soon as my eyes opened in the mornings. But, by the end of week 7 the nausea and heartburn subsided and my diet was getting back to normal. I’m still super tired and we still go to bed at 8 pm or 9pm every night!

Week 8 finally came and we got to see this little nugget growing so rapidly inside of me! Doc changed my due date from April 10, 2016 to April 8, 2015 based on the length of Baby. Baby’s heart rate was 171 and super strong. Doc said the pregnancy should be a great one. There’s nothing like hearing that little heartbeat and knowing everything is ok!

My diet has finally (slowly) got back to normal and I can eat all my favorite healthy recipes again!

Workouts are slim to none at the moment. I tried the gym on a few different occasions and I kept getting light headed and felt crummy. I’m having to slowly make my way back in there as I hope to be working out full force by the second trimester!

Current cravings: ranch dressing (on everything!), fruit, and cereal (and drinking the milk, which I never used to do!)

Yay for Preggies!

Our First Pregnancy – 6 weeks!

This week was a bit of a struggle. Morning sickness hit me full force a few days before 6 weeks and carried on through the week. Mostly, the sickness felt like heartburn/indigestion/nausea/gasey all in one. I never threw up though!

It wasn’t very pleasant but, now it has dissapated and I am starting to feel normal at the first of 7 weeks. Unfortunately, I couldn’t work out in week 6 because I felt like I couldn’t get out of bed without hurling. My diet was basically whatever I could get down but it mostly consisted of plain bread, cereal, small unseasoned snacks and anything that didn’t smell very strong. Anything could turn my stomach and I just felt so iffy. I’m trying to ease my way back in to the gym and I’m hoping to start having cravings for some yummy new foods soon!

We can’t wait for our first ultrasound in a week to see our sweet baby! All the sickness is well worth it as long as Baby is healthy and happy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Keep me and Baby Patt in your prayers! ๐Ÿ™‚

Yay for Preggies!

Intro to Our First Pregnancy – 5 weeks!

Now that Brad and I have found out we are pregnant for the first time and are soooo excited, I thought I wouldย start a blog documenting this amazing journey step-by-step!

I am feeling great so far – minus the exhaustion that comes each night at about 8pm and Brad thinks I’m a dud.

My cravings consist of spicy foods (lots of them) and randomly, hard-boiled eggs.

I exercised daily before I was pregnant and my doctor encouraged me to continue doing exactly what I was doing before. Which was such a relief because I am IN LOVE with fitness and nutrition. To my surprise, it is supposed to benefit me and the baby! My workout today was full of cardio and some lighter weights:

Cardio = 15 min on elliptical (average jog speed)

Arm day:

  1. Machine Bicep Extension = 3 sets of 15 reps with 30lbs.
  2. Hammer curls = 3 sets of 15, 12, 10 with 2 15lb dumbbells.
  3. Tricep Rope Pushdown = 3 sets of 15 (50lbs), 12 (55lbs), 10 (60lbs) – pyramid method.
  4. Machine Tricep Extension = 3 sets of 15 with 30lbs.
  5. Barbell Curl Cable Extension = 3 sets of 10, 10, 8 with 30lbs.

Breakfast = Pineapple Kale Green Smoothie (handful of kale, handful of frozen pineapple chunks, 8oz of coconut water, 1/4 of an avocado) + Snickerdoodle Toaster Strudel (sounded yummy)

Morning Snack = handful of chopped dates

Lunch = Hot turkey and cheese on whole grain toast with olive mayo and a dab of dijon mustard + small Kale salad with garlic onion crunchies, turkey bacon bits, shredded cheese, and thousand island dressing (just a little).

Afternoon Snack = Peach Yogurt Smoothie (handful of frozen peaches, 1/2c of coconut milk, 2tbsp plain yogurt, drizzle of honey topped with sprinkle of coconut sugar) + mozz string cheese.

Dinner = One Pan Taco Skillet + Chips & Salsa/Cheese Dip.

After Dinner Snack = 1c Frozen Yogurt – Moose Tracks.

In the bed by 10pm (only because of school!)

Concluding Social Media and Politics

Unfortunately, I did not receive the interview questions back from Congressman Collins yet so that I could include them in my research. However, I hope to get them back soon and add the information I obtain from Mr. Collins to my guide I created for this study. I regret I did not have a sufficient amount of time to add in Mr. Collins view.

In conclusion, I learned a ton about the benefits of social media and how beneficial it is to potential politicians as well as everyone else. There are so many ways social media can be used beneficially such as, candidates conduct Q&A’s through social media for personal voter insight which I did not know about previously. I also found it interesting that candidates use social media to poke fun at the opposing candidates, which lures more voters, especially the young voter population. Obtaining the young voter population is very important for candidates because prior toย theirย legal voting age, young people can become interested in politics and learn about the importance of having their own personal view when election time rolls around.

Speaking of the young voter population, many young people do not realize how important it is to maintain clean social media. Starting at a young age is the most beneficial way to keep your social life clean and will make my Guide to Clean Social Media a breeze to follow. I feel like it is super important to maintain a clean social life in order to benefit everyone, especially yourself in the future. Inappropriate posts or pictures can create unwanted definitions of a persons lifestyle that is unnecessary and can occasionally be offensive to others as well. I explain in step by step detail why these things are important in my Guide. Originally, I was going to focus my Guide on politicians using social media, but it seemed more logical to focus it on politicians and everyone else because the issue of inappropriate uses in social media today is continually increasing.

I have successfully concluded my first ever independent study at the University of Georgia! This has been such a wonderful experience and I would do it all over again because I have learned so much about social media and politics, as well how to maintain a clean social network. I encourage everyone who has never had the opportunity to conduct an independent study, to do one on something that interests you before you graduate.

Happy Networking! ๐Ÿ™‚
